Can Green Living Really Be Not Difficult?

Tuesday, 19 July 2011

By Harris Botwinik

Some folks are worried that it will take extraordinary effort to make their lifestyle eco-friendly. However, it is actually not that difficult and just making modest changes can help the environment by reducing your carbon footprint.

One way to live a more earth friendly life would be to unplug electrical gadgets when they are not being used. You may not realize that even when something is switched off, it still uses a minute amount of energy which results to higher energy use. Even though this can be difficult at first, once you are in a routine it will become less complicated and will also save you money in the long term.

Whenever you shop and carry your items home in bags, be sure to keep those bags once you've emptied them out. Remember to bring the bags with you when you go to the grocery next time. By doing this, you won't have to use as many bags on a monthly basis which reduces the amount of trash going into the landfill and can save you money on bag purchases. Bear in mind that you can easily use these bags to transport other items from one place to another.

If you try driving less regularly, you should be able to reduce the effect of your carbon footprint. It is understandable that you may want to drive to your office, the store or even visit friends and family but there are usually times when you can car pool (use one car for many people) or simply walk. Using your car only once in awhile can save you a a considerable amount of money and also cut down pollution. As the price of fuel continues to increase, this is unquestionably an area where we can save a sizable amount of money by doing something so modest.

Although you can decrease pollution with the use of many methods, one area you should think about is the usage of plastic water bottles. The water inside these bottles may be cleaner than tap water but they cause a great amount of pollution as they are ordinarily tossed after just being used one time. There's nothing inappropriate with getting bottled water if that's one thing you prefer to do. Still, it would be a good idea to use the bottles again. You may be wondering just how you're going to be able to do that. You can get a water filter that you can use in your water bottles and you can put them in the fridge for the next use. In this way, you can decrease the impact you have on the environment and also save yourself a considerable amount of money.

All in all, I am certain that you can see that all these things are kind of modest changes but collectively they can contribute to make a huge difference, both making you more green and also lowering your monthly spendings. Green living, therefore, is not that hard when you take the first step to changing your consumer habits.
